A small river in the north of England with an almighty Christmas legacy is being given a wider birth to deal with reoccurring flooding in the Calder Valley. VBA in partnership with the Environment Agency have been working at the site for over a year trying to prevent further floods.
As local businesses and conservation projects rebuild their community all eyes are on the environmental Agency to carry out the flood aleviation scheme and they have been holding flood surgeries at the community centre on Thursdays to meet local residents like Mary Anderson (in photos below). Her rental property was flooded and worries that not all local landlords are completing the work, such as fitting flood doors, despite having been given grants to do so.
